Three-dimensional craniofacial changes with maxillary expansion in young adult patients with different craniofacial morphology

چکیده
Objectives: Skeletally mature patients with transverse deficiency are best treated surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion (RPE) procedure. Recent studies have shown that microimplant-assisted RPE (MARPE) appliances can be effective in achieving skeletal young adults. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the and dental alveolar changes response treatment MARPE three types of anteroposterior malocclusions using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans. Material Methods: Seventy-eight subjects diagnosed maxillary appliance (mean age 22.9 ± 4.2 years) were divided into Class I, II, III 26 each group. Pre- post-treatment CBCT scans used for superimposition examine dentoalveolar following treatment. Results: Significant lateral separation maxilla was found at levels nasal floor, interzygomatic bones, inferior palatine margin process ( P < 0.05) whole sample. Most sagittal vertical variables change significantly sample studied group separately. Intergroup comparisons revealed no significant differences among classes except left frontozygomatic angle, inclination torque first second premolars. In patients, moved forward most cases (eight cases) (0.88°, mandible downward backward improving relationship. also measurements (N-Me, MMP, MP/SN, all malocclusions. Conclusion: Maxillary adult induced different dimensions malocclusion difference classes.

Nonsurgical rapid maxillary expansion effects on craniofacial structures in young adult females. A bone scintigraphy study.
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the skeletal effects of nonsurgical rapid maxillary expansion (RME) on craniofacial structures with bone scintigraphy in young adult female subjects. MATERIALS AND METHODS The material of the present study consists of scintigraphic records taken from 17 early adult females treated with RME. All patients had a bilateral posterior crossbite, transverse maxillary deficiency...
متن کاملThree-dimensional craniofacial morphology in unilateral cleft lip and palate.
Craniofacial morphology and asymmetry were compared before, during, and after puberty within and between patients with unilateral complete cleft lip and palate (UCCLP) and a non-cleft group. In the UCCLP group, the posterior cranial base and total cranial base were significantly shorter at all skeletal periods, the maxilla was significantly retruded and posteriorly rotated, and the mandible was...
متن کاملThree-dimensional craniofacial reconstruction imaging.
This review article aims to describe and discuss the imaging techniques most commonly used in medicine and dentistry to obtain three-dimensional images of the craniofacial complex. Three-dimensional imaging techniques provide extensive possibilities for the detailed and precise analysis of the whole craniofacial complex, for virtual (on-screen) simulation and real simulation of orthognathic sur...
متن کاملA craniofacial morphology study of patients with obstructive sleep apnea
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is defined as a repetitive cessations of breathing (apneas) lasting for at least 10 seconds or more for each event during sleep. The respiratory muscles attempt to inspire, but blockages in the upper airway prevent air from reaching the lungs. This will cause partial (hypopnea) or complete (apnea) closure of the upper airways with consequent adverse effects on slee...
